SA Lock Down

As with everyone, the life we plann ed and hoped for in South Africa is now not what we thought it might be. Planes grounded, journeys canceled, staff stood down and partners in isolation. We began this year, 2020, at Mercy Air in a very organized way: the diary was very ordered; our year planner was laid out and clearly colour-coded, with gaps between trips highlighted and visitors booked into hospitality. Proudly we gazed upon this DaVinci-like price of work. This thing of beauty appealed to my dyslexic desire to be organized and my insecurity to know what I am doing. Our new addition to the Mercy Air team had done us proud working hard, planning flights, pilots and mission partners.  It could be said I was bordering on premier smugness in our new organized state. But then it crept upon us - Mozambique South African border closed, a deep sense of uncertainty resulting in an initial three week country wide lock dow

Just 2 issues

As we prepare to go on a mission trip to Mozambique for a short term, one of the poorest counties in the world, we leave this wonderful county of South Africa with many problems it needs to solve. I highlight just 2 today from the SABC news Chanel. One is concerning continued inequality and Erin and the medical team she is part of are in a local township today. The other issue is South Africa trying to keep the lights on. We have stage 4 load shedding which means the electricity in our area is off 07:00-09:30, 15:30- 17:30 and 23:00-01:30. Zimbabwe is worse but we are not there.  These are just two snapshots of this amazing country and the challenges its people are facing everyday click on the links below to go to SABC news and of course please pray.     Inequality continues to grow in South Africa post 1994 //www.sabcnews.com/sabcnews/inequality-continues-to-grow-in-south-africa-post-1994/ Power cuts of up to 4 000 megawatts to last until Friday – Eskom http:
